Welcome to A Weed on the Curb, celebrating with the Sunday Muse. Sharing this for The Sunday Muse #200 and inviting you to come and explore the poetry and poets who are participating in this milestone. Spending time on a Sunday with the talented, engaged poets of The Muse allows me to listen to those things I can't speak and I'm grateful to be able to continue to do so.
The Ideal
Limn a universe in silicon and nothing:
All the air left in the lungs, rising.
Leave the body in the glass, all princess,
All specimen. Water sieved the rocks,
But now it only holds the image
Of what was created, developed, set
In the chemical booth in the dark of the heavens.
A little about me: I live in Texas, in a suburban community a little north of Houston. I was born and raised in Texas and, given the past few weeks (years), I've had the song Anthem playing in my head on repeat. We have two dogs with whom we compete for chair/pillow/blankets on a regular basis:
When I'm working on longer writing projects, I tend to make bracelets related to the story or create themed keychains. Also, I tend to accumulate notebooks because I like to start with handwritten drafts, although not always for poetry.Keychain for Slay Me A Love Song (current project)
Typical writing pose:
I can has attention now?
Sorry about all the pics! Hope this week finds you safe, healthy, and cozy. Thanks for all your comments and encouragement over the past several years!

I love everything about this Chrissa, EVERYTHING!! First I had to look up Limn, what a cool word! I love how you have captured the image so beautifully in a poem that moves all the senses. The pictures are awesome! I would love to learn some about making bracelets and key chains. You are so creative, and we both have a love of journals. Sometimes I tell myself I am a journal floozy. LOL Thank you so much for being a part of the Muse journey and providing so much amazing poetry over the years.
ReplyDeleteI need a "Journal Floozy" t-shirt! :) I had fun putting this together, so many thanks for creating the space for it.
DeleteYour photos today quite entertaining😊
ReplyDeleteLuv your setting the heavens in chiaroscuro today
Much love...
Like Carrie, I found myself learning a new word! Your poetry has a wonderful surreal vibe … yes, Oregon is a wonderland of ecosystems .. rainforests to mountains to valleys to high desert ….
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those doggy faces! Adorable, especially the one eyeing you in case you plan to steal a blanket. LOL. I enjoyed your poem very much too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, Limn is a new word for me. I was thinking light but I wasn't 100% sure, so I googled it. Thanks for that. I was pondering the photo and I can't seem to get past the angles of her body...very similar to the lines on an EKG.. There is still life she isn't flatlined....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful take on the image. Good to learn some about you, Chrissa. You have some endearing furbabies and each one looks like they have very different personalities.
ReplyDeleteHappy 200th. Love "Limn a universe in silicon and nothing" and the last line. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove to know your creative self Chrissa. You are opening up to a lot of sharing with other poets here. This is a self the moves and jives while doing something ordinary. Thanks for sharing Ma'am!

Thank you, Chrissa, I learned last because of your neat write. Limm was not in my vocabulary until last night; I saw you had posted and that word hit me in the face. With google's help I was armed. But sleep overtook me and morning tugged on my brain. And I had to look it up again, I had forgotten. Did I really learn last night?
ReplyDeleteYour limm for words is beautiful. Wish I could say I had this talent such as yours. I do not. Not for creating art either, even worse there, I'm still in the stickman phase, not even as good as I was in the first grade; then as I saw from a drawing Mom had kept, that I could draw neat horses as well as persons.
Nuff. We used to be neighbors, depending on which way we would go, east or west on 105 or 1093 from Conroe. We lived for 16 years west of Willis in Bentwater. In 2014 our younger daughter came home from working in London for five years so we moved to Katy to be nearer and help.with our youngest grandaughter who celebrated her fifth birthday the day they came back. She was four MONTHS old when they left Houston. Here we live a short walk from them in Cinco Ranch.
Again I appreciate you all for accepting me to write with you and you and the others here, all with limm and passion for telling messages with those critically arranged words.
..
Love the poem, and your share.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing about making bracelets and keychains, and the photos. No need to say sorry for them.
